ST. HUBERT WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

The St. Hubert World Championship was held on Tuesday 2nd October 2007 in Milmort, Belgium. The pictures for the Opening Ceremony for both competitions  (held on Sunday 30th September at Chateau La Hutte) are on the link above. There were six classes. Three classes for men, two for ladies and one for spaniels. Moving from the meet each class hunted different areas. We followed one of the men's classes and here are some of the pictures below.
English and Continental pointing dogs run in the same class. Only one dog runs at a time and the handler shoots his own bird over his own dog.  Each competitor starts with one hundred points, seventy for the handler and thirty for the dog. These points can be deducted as and when necessary by the judges. Gun safety is paramount and the judges check the gun and cartridges of the handler before the start of each run as seen below.
